In 2009, the Washington State Department of Transportation awarded King County Metro a four-year Regional Mobility Grant to improve the Route 245 service frequency. Starting in fall 2009, Metro improved the route’s frequency from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes on weekdays, during portions of the mid-day and peak time periods.

The 15-minute service on Route 245 was further expanded in 2011 as part of the service integration project that featured the debut of RapidRide B Line between Bellevue and Redmond. Right now Route 245 operates with 15-minute service throughout the day on weekdays.

The Regional Mobility Grant is ending this summer and because sales tax revenue is less than expected due to the Great Recession, Metro may be forced to revert to 30-minute frequency on Route 245 as soon as June 10, 2013. We want to better understand how our riders use this route and how this potential reduction in service will affect them.
