Metro routes 16, 66X, and 99 will be rerouted for about three years
This fall, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will begin construction of the Elliott Bay Seawall. The new seawall will be under construction from fall 2013 through 2016 along Alaskan Way, where King County Metro operates routes 16, 66X, and 99.
Starting Sept. 28, 2013, bus stops along Alaskan Way will close and all three routes will begin operating on First Avenue. These changes will be in effect for the duration of seawall construction – approximately three years.

The routes will use existing and re-opened bus stops on First Avenue, Seneca Street, South Washington, and South Jackson Streets. Stops will be re-opened at First Avenue and:
- Yesler Way
- Marion Street
- Pine Street
- Virginia Street
- Bell Street
- Wall Street
These new stops will be marked with a bus stop pole and flag. Stops serving the Colman Dock will be located at the Marion Street and First Avenue intersection for easy transfers via the Marion Street Pedestrian Bridge.
Signage will be provided at closed bus stops to direct riders to their new stops, and between First Avenue stops and the waterfront. Elevators are located in The Post building to support limited accessibility riders between Alaskan Way and 1st Avenue.
Access paratransit service will continue to serve waterfront destinations, including ferry service at Colman Dock. Trips to certain destinations may be affected by construction activities requiring passengers to be dropped off farther away or prolonging the trip due to higher traffic volumes. Scheduling staff will communicate these effects when a trip is scheduled where possible.
