Thank you, veterans: We salute you

Five veterans shown who are now Metro employees

Veterans Day began as a commemoration after World War I ended. On the 11th hour, on the 11th day, on the 11th month in 1918, guns were silenced and the “Great War” was over. Over 100 years later, we reflect on the sacrifice made by all veterans – about 5% of the U.S. population – in protecting our country and defending our freedom.

To the service men and women from diverse backgrounds, who share a joint mission to serve the American people, we thank you. We honor you.

Prior to serving residents of King County, around 8% of Metro employees served in our nation’s armed forces. From Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, here are just a few veterans who are now part of our Metro family.

Our region, and our workplace, benefits from the well-honed skills of veterans:

To all the veterans, military members, and your families, thank you for your meaningful contribution to our country.
