Trailhead Direct tips and tricks revealed on state hiking podcast

Hikers boarding Trailhead Direct buses on their way to the trail

There have been ORCA (card) sightings near Mount Si and the Issaquah Alps as hikers head to the trails using Trailhead Direct, our summer transit to trails service. This year, hikers have two routes to choose from: Capitol Hill Station to Mount Si or the Mount  Baker Transit Center to the Issaquah Alps.

The Washington State Hiking Podcast covers hikes all across Washington and wanted to learn from Metro’s Trailhead Direct expert Ryan Miller. Podcast host Jennie Thwing Flaming gets the insider track about the history behind Trailhead, the return of the Issaquah Alps run, and how Trailhead Direct provides greater access to the regional trail system.

Spoiler alert: Ryan also lets Jennie know about his favorite hiking trail, the ability to use Metro year-round to get to hikes throughout King County, and how you can help spread the word about Trailhead Direct.

“(Trailhead Direct) also opens up some of our most popular trails in the greater Seattle area and around King County to people who don’t have cars at all, which is really awesome.” – Jennie Thwing Flaming, host, The Washington State Hiking Podcast
