South Lake Union streetcar returns to regular service Wednesday, Sept. 4

South Lake Union Streetcar in service in Seattle

Service resumes on the South Lake Union route of the Seattle Streetcar on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Repairs to the electrical systems that power the streetcar were completed Tuesday.

Streetcar service operates:

Specialized high-voltage control units were installed and tested over the past week at the two substations that deliver electricity to the overhead catenary system that powers the streetcar. Trains then were tested in simulated service Tuesday and the systems are operating properly and reliably.

On behalf of Seattle Department of Transportation and King County Metro, we appreciate everyone’s patience during the temporary disruption and repair work.
