After hearing two hours of testimony this afternoon on the two-year $20 Congestion Reduction Charge, the King County Council closed the public hearing, held an extended recess, and decided to postpone its deliberation and decision until August 15.

This was the last opportunity for the Council to put the measure on the ballot with a simple majority of five votes. On August 15, six votes would be required to pass an emergency ordinance to put the measure on the ballot or to approve the measure without putting it on the ballot.

Councilmember Patterson indicated that the Council plans to continue its discussion over the next few weeks rather than render a divided vote on the issue.
