At King County Metro, our first priority is the health of passengers, employees, and community members. When novel coronavirus emerged in our region, we moved quickly to upgrade cleaning protocols and frequency. Metro crews now disinfect every bus, every night using backpack sprayers containing Virex II 256. This means every morning, all passengers and operators board fully disinfected buses across King County Metro’s system.
Metro is also joining with other King County agencies in taking further proactive steps to combat the spread of this virus. This includes postponing, canceling, or providing a virtual option for any Metro-led advisory group meetings, events, open houses, public meetings, and other gatherings throughout March. Metro will also review this guidance on a weekly basis to determine if any changes should be made.
At Metro, we recognize the importance of community feedback in decision making and remain committed to ensuring we hear from the community before project decisions are made. Metro staff are in the process of identifying other opportunities to gather public input on our current projects, including phone briefings, virtual meetings, and other avenues for gathering public comments through email, online platforms, mail, and phone.
You can help keep yourself and others healthy by not traveling if you are sick, covering your cough or sneeze, avoiding touching your face, and washing your hands frequently and thoroughly.
