Dear community members,
Last Friday, a jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin, acquitted a man of murdering two people and injuring a third during the protests of the police shooting of Jacob Blake, an unarmed Black man.
I want to acknowledge the emotions that are present in our community in response to this verdict. Many of us are feeling hurt, anger, and a longing for an improved justice system.
Events like this recall a long list of past injustices and gun violence, and they are a painful reminder of how far we must still go to make real and lasting change in our world — change that values Black life, centers equity, and demands social and racial justice.
This case illustrates racism is fundamental to the laws, institutions, structures, and systems of our country. Not being racist is an inadequate response.
Our community at Metro and across King County must choose each day to be actively antiracist in order to create a more beloved tomorrow.
I appreciate you,
Terry White
General Manager, King County Metro
Terry White,
I watched the same criminal justice system weigh the evidence against the actions of 3 white men who thought they were performing a legal citizens arrest who shot a black man get rightly convicted as guilty. Many of us in this community are relieved that the justice system is worked correctly in both trials, the verdicts were reached by looking at the facts, and the law.
While I agree that as a US of American you’re entitled to have, hold and express your communist beliefs, I don’t believe using your publically funded platform with the Metro to air your contemp for the law, justice system and just verdicts is appropriate whatsoever.
I’m not completely unempathetic towards the far left view that non-compliant level three sex offenders with 5 victims of 11 counts of sodomy who also are woman beaters are “people” and shouldn’t be killed just for doing what they love, namely assaulting people they perceive weaker than them. However I don’t subscribe to that view, and neither have we the people ever subscribed to that view thus the law is as written by we the people through our legislative branch.
To clarify each of the victims of their own bad choices who assaulted Kyle, are white and were only at the communist festivities for the same reasons they were anywhere else, they go where trouble goes, and sometimes they find what they’re looking for.
Let’s please not turn our public transportation or utility facilities into platforms to preach our most radical and perhaps sincere religious and political ideologies, and while I do mean any and all religious or political doctrines, I would pointedly emphasize especially those detestable communist authoritarian type beliefs and doctrines. No one has to share in the pain of the lefts loss of another pedophile nor refrain from celebrating the relief of more than 1 just serious of verdicts in the weeks leading to Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Thank you,
Ryan Goss
Terry, there are several problems with this post, but I’ll limit myself to pointing out that you’re wrong when you say Jacob Blake was “unarmed.” He admitted to having a knife on him, a knife that he had dropped and reached to pick up when he was shot. Please correct your blog post. Thank you. –David
