(This memo was shared with King County Metro employees April 25, following the April 22 sentencing.)
Dear colleagues,
On Friday, a judge handed down a 45-year prison sentence to the gunman who killed two people and shot and injured two others, including Metro employee Eric Stark when he was driving a bus in Lake City.
Despite his gunshot wound, Eric backed his bus out of the area safely to protect the passengers onboard. Eric’s bravery and heroic actions saved the lives of his riders.
While no court decision can make up for the impacts of that act of violence three years ago, the sentencing was an important and needed step.
All of us at Metro are thankful for Eric’s recovery and we are deeply grateful for his continued service at Metro. His incredible actions that day are just one example of his life-long commitment to put others first.
I am honored to work alongside Eric and all of you at Metro.
I appreciate you,
Terry White
King County Metro General Manager
