Where are you going 2? King County Metro buses connect to new 2 Line stations in Redmond starting May 10
King County Metro bus service will transport riders between several Eastside communities to the two new Sound Transit 2 Line stations in Redmond opening May 10.
Five Metro bus routes will shift pathways to connect riders to and from Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations, opening up connections to downtown Bellevue, Duvall, Issaquah, Kirkland, Sammamish, and later downtown Seattle.
- Starting Saturday, May 10: RapidRide B Line and Route 250 will serve Downtown Redmond Station; DART Route 930 will serve stops at or near Downtown Redmond Station.
- Starting Monday, May 12: DART Route 224 will serve Downtown Redmond Station and Route 269 will connect to Marymoor Village Station.
“We’re building a transit system where fast, reliable trains are part of everyday travel across our region,” said King County Executive Shannon Braddock. “By continuing to adapt our network of buses, we’re helping riders get from their homes and neighborhoods right to the light rail platforms.”
“We’re excited to provide new bus connections for the new 2 Line stations in Redmond, with even more improvements to bus service coming this fall and next year,” King County Metro General Manager Michelle Allison said. “The growing regional transit network continues to open up travel opportunities to more communities.”
Sound Transit ongoing 2 Line expansion
The 2 Line will expand 3.4 miles and add two new stations with the opening of Downtown Redmond Link. Downtown Redmond Station will become the permanent 2 Line terminus on the Eastside.
Sound Transit has launched a new Hello Redmond informational site to help people plan for opening day and their upcoming trips on the 2 Line.
The opening day celebration will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Downtown Redmond Station. Following the ribbon cutting, service is anticipated to start around noon. Community events at both the Marymoor Village and Downtown Redmond stations will run from noon to 4 p.m. The helloredmond web site has the latest information about opening day activities.
Frequent trains meet community connecting buses
The 2 Line will run every 10 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week between South Bellevue and Downtown Redmond stations. Passengers will be able to connect with the local and regional transit network at several stations along the 2 Line.
The Marymoor Village Station includes a 1,400-stall parking garage and will provide convenient access to concerts and recreational activities at Marymoor Park. The Downtown Redmond Station is close to shopping and dining at Redmond Town Center, and new transit-oriented housing in the city’s downtown core.
Bike parking is available at all stations, and several 2 Line stations are accessible from the Eastrail corridor and the regional trail network.
Starting this summer Metro DART Route 930 will have service later in the evening, extending until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 p.m. on weekends. More Metro service also is coming this summer and fall, so stay tuned for more improvements to Eastside transit service in the near future.
When the full 2 Line opens, it will add the Mercer Island and Judkins Park stations and connect to the 1 Line at the International District/Chinatown Station in downtown Seattle.
