Too far to just bike? Bike + Transit: The perfect pair for Bike Everywhere month
It’s beautiful weather and you want to want to go someplace fun—but is it too far to go by your trusty bike?
We’ve got a solution: combine transit and your bike—it’s easy, cheap and super convenient! Between bus bike racks and lockers, we’ve got you covered.
May is Bike Everywhere Month, and that makes it a great time to try pairing your bike with transit to give you the ultimate, flexible ride or commute. As the sun comes out this spring, check out a few ways you can extend your two-wheeled adventures with King County Metro.
- Bike lockers, available at most transit stations throughout Puget Sound, are a safe, secure, and affordable way to ease the first and last mile of your commute – and they only cost $0.05 per hour to use! With no long-term commitment, bike lockers are easy and accessible to use any time – whether you’re going to catch a game, connecting to transit or just want to leave the U-lock at home while you run errands by bike. Who needs the stress of circling for parking at the park-and-ride when you can bike and be on your way in an instant?
Just download the BikeLink app, roll your bike into the locker and shut your bike in its second home where it will wait for you, weather-protected, while you hop on your bus or train.

- Load your bike on the easy-to-use bike racks on a Metro bus. Each rack can carry up to three bikes, giving you more efficient, flexible, and fun ways to move around the region.
- Did you know bikes are welcome on Metro Water Taxis? All bikes, including electric bikes, are welcome on the West Seattle and Vashon Water Taxis. With racks that hold both standard and “fat tire” sizes as wide as 4.6 inches, you can unlock a boat adventure by bike with the tap of your card.
- As an added bonus, Metro Flex also offers bicycle carrying options. Just remember to select “extra passengers” and click “+” by Bicycle to dispatch one of our vehicles with a bike rack.

Excellent info! Especially impressed with the bike locker map (https://bikelink.org/maps), because who wants to ride to a station only to find no lockers available. I had no idea they were as cheap as 5c/hour.
Yay King County Metro for celebrating multimodal transportation during Bike Everywhere Month!
