Sea26: Getting around town—Metro launches Waterfront Shuttles for summertime fun
Metro’s new Waterfront Shuttle is now in service in downtown Seattle, connecting riders between the Seattle Center, the Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel on the downtown waterfront, historic Pioneer Square and our treasured Chinatown-International District.
Rides are free thanks to a sponsorship from the Seattle FWC26 team, all part of making it easier to ride transit and leave your car home all summer long – especially on Match Days.
Shuttle service is very frequent – operating every 15 minutes, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. – with stops near the city’s most popular destinations.
The timing is perfect: Memorial Day weekend signals our hopeful sprint into summer weather, drawing locals and visitors to downtown Seattle. But we also know that in less than 30 days, we will be welcoming hundreds of thousands of soccer fans from every corner of the earth to the Puget Sound to cheer for their favorite teams.
King County Metro will also continue to be your top choice for riding to work, shopping, medical appointments and non-soccer events such as Mariners baseball! And Metro will play a vital role in getting people to Seattle Soccer Stadium for this international tournament. You’ll be able to jump on a free shuttle and ride to the six matches taking place in Seattle as well as riding along the waterfront for free all summer!
The Waterfront Shuttle will operate until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Fans, tourists and getting to work
Metro’s goal is to ensure everyone enjoys all the activities and events taking place this summer while making sure the people who work, live and meet in downtown Seattle get where they need to go.
In June and July, on the six match days at Seattle Soccer Stadium, Metro will be operating a shuttle that you’ll be able to ride for free.
The shuttle will travel along Third Avenue between Seattle Soccer Stadium and the Seattle Center. The shuttle will also have stops that are a short walk, roll or scoot from the other fan festivities locations at Pacific Place and Victory Hall. It will be available for soccer fans, tourists and people working in the downtown business district.
The shuttle will be available three hours before the start of the match and three hours after the end of the match. It will run every three to seven minutes before and during the match. After the match, fans will find it facing north with doors open and staff ready to answer questions and help get everyone on their way to their next activity.

Is that a fact?
O Rei (The King)
When he played in 1958, Edson Arantes do Nascimento was the youngest man to participate in the tournament. Better known throughout the world as Pelé, he was just 17 years old for his first tournament match as part of the Brazilian National team. He would lead the team to the championship, scoring six goals in four matches. Pelé would win three titles playing for Brazil and become one of the most recognized athletes in the world in any sport.
